Resident Evil 0 is impressive, and not in a good way. It highlights a lot of the biggest criticisms of the initial games; The limited inventory is somehow at its most restrictive, and puzzles bounce between obtuse and basic. Two playable characters is neat, but it begs to be co-operative and not the awkward switching you’re forced to do. Rebecca’s portrayal as a weak damsel in comparison to Buff Bad Boy Billy is equally frustrating. It still has the tense charm of the older Resident Evil games, but the execution is nowhere near as skillful or enjoyable, sometimes painfully so.
