Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga

By the time Superstar Saga released on GBA back in 2003, it was the third completely standalone Mario RPG, differentiating itself by having the audacity to bring in Luigi. As usual, the game’s dialogue is charming and hilarious, mostly on behalf of the game’s villains. There’s much more of an emphasis on solving puzzles outside of combat with cooperation between the Bros, but developer Alpha Dream didn’t skimp on the combat either. In fact, the timing required to succeed in combat is much more precise than in previous games, resulting in surprisingly difficult encounters near the end of the game.
