The Game Boy Mario titles are a bit of a different breed than their console brethren. Super Mario Land 2 was created before the Mario “lore” was set in stone, and it makes for a unique platforming romp. You’ll take your bunny ears and travel through a mechanized Mario, a Halloween-themed world, and more as you look to reclaim Mario’s castle from Wario, who makes his first appearance here. The platforming is solid too, despite being on a low-power handheld. I had a lot of fun playing Super Mario Land 2 as a kid, and it still holds up today.
