Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire

The Watcher’s sophomore adventure in Eora continues into the Deadfire Archipelago, a series of islands that you will likely spend many hours exploring. Of particular note for the sequel is the patched inclusion of a turn-based combat mode, which dramatically alters the way the game is played. Battles feel much more strategic and provide more room to make sense of the game’s complex systems. New additions like multi-classing and ship combat are welcome, but unfortunately, the latter is a drag. Although some characters lack depth, the worldbuilding and lore are just as strong as ever in this solidly built follow-up.
