The first expansion of Final Fantasy XIV makes suffering through the more boring bits of A Realm Reborn worth it. Heavensward takes the play to Ishgard, where an age-old war against dragons is the backdrop of the political strife and classism the city-state faces. The gameplay is refined a bit as well, with questlines flowing better than the base game and the new classes adding new layers to the typical job roles. But Heavensward is where FFXIV comes into its own with its incredible story. Even if you don’t like MMOs, you owe it to yourself to experience Heavenward’s story.
