Resident Evil 2 (2019)

Resident Evil is about spaces that feel malevolent. Despite certain globetrotting sequels, the franchise has proved time and again it is about haunting locales and people surviving them. Spencer Manson, The Baker’s House, The Village. One stands above the rest. Trapped in the epicenter of Racoon City, The RPD station.
A gothic, nonsensical maze. A monument to failed bureaucracy. An evil place. All the remake of Resident Evil 2 had to do to satisfy was recreate that space in a modern game. Capcom did that and then created one of the best survival-horror, action games of all time around it.
