Tetris Attack for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System is confused. Obviously the product of Nintendo’s nervous marketers, it’s a mix of Yoshi’s Island visuals (although strangely not on the cover) added to an already fully existing Super Famicom game, Panel de Pom. Panel de Pom is a charming, fast-paced puzzle game featuring several magical girls in various fantasy locales (available on your Switch’s SNES app right now!) In T.A. colorful blocks rise slowly into the playfield and you swap their places to match them. Think maybe Bejeweled meets Tetris. The gameplay is fantastic and intact but it ain’t Tetris.
