How does one follow up a hit like Hotline Miami? You don’t. Well, you shouldn’t. But they insisted and made it bigger, gorier, groovier, and flashier. Dennaton sets up the events of the first game through non-chronological storytelling, which made Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number hard to follow from a narrative context. The bigger levels made it harder to follow from a player’s perspective as well. But the soundtrack still slapped, and the neon still pulsed, so a lesson in bigger isn’t always better could still be worth your time- if you’re patient and persistent.

Oh, and remember the pizza.
