After the success of Awakening, Intelligent Systems decided to split its next entry into three versions. Birthright is the version that focuses on Hoshido. The plot is serviceable, but not exactly standout or worth mentioning. Of the three versions of Fates, Birthright was designed to be the easiest version to complete, with the ability to grind and generally easier to defeat enemies. However, it ends up making Birthright boring overall. Also, IS thought it was a good idea to have a hidden A-rank support requirement to not have a character killed. It’s a poor design decision for a beginner’s title.
